Firstly apologies for the length of this. I've tried to keep it concise buts its difficult when there was so much wrong. I should have done this months ago but it upset me just to think about it all, but determined now to share feedback. I stayed at D'Hotel 6 months previously, in Feb 23, for 2 weeks and it was great so I booked again for Nov 23 paying over £2,000. It was much more expensive then the previous stay but it was like a different hotel which had gone completely downhill. I paid the hotel directly through AMEX so it was fully paid for several weeks previously. It was a card I only use for booking flights so I didn't take it with me and the hotel would not honour the booking because of credit card fraud, even though I had stayed there recently. Amex said because the payment had been fully paid directly to the hotel, and cleared some weeks before, they should not have been querying it. The reception staff kept asking me to find an email or receipt with the full number of the credit card which I told them would not exist because of security as nowhere would list all the numbers. I found some receipts on email with the last 4 digits but they said that was not good enough. They said they would give me a few days to find proof that it was my card, but the next day I was asked to pay again with another card which I did as they had already locked us out of our room !! This was just the start of a long trip which was spoilt by then worrying about paying for such a big expense while we were away. Just a complete nightmare and so unnecessary. Especially in Singapore which one would think is ahead of technology and would understand how such payments work. We have travelled to many countries, over many years, booking in the same way and never having an issue. Then, as far as the accommodation goes, I had emailed the hotel to say we would be stayed a lengthy time and could we have a room away from the busy side of the road as the glazing is poor and its very noisy. But this was ignored, and although the room was large, the storage was poor - a wardrobe with 3 hangers each and 1 drawer between us. We couldn't unpack for 4 days until we were moved and given more hangers. The room had 1 breakfast tea bag and 1 camomile tea bag, with some sachets of coffee and a water heater which we didn't know how to use and once we did it was hit and miss how much hot water it provided (previously there was a kettle). As tea drinkers we have never come across such a misery display of an assortment of 2 teabags. No more bottled water. 1 small bath towel each (usually frayed) with no hand towels or flannels. No more nice quality shampoos and soap. Half a roll of toilet paper with none spare. Shower spray didn't work properly in 1st room and 2nd room had no hot water for 3 days. Bedding was flipped over rather than being changed. Basically we had to ask for everything. Rather than asking the reception it was best to ask the cleaner. The management didn't seem to care. Whilst speaking to the staff on several occasions during the first few days, the manager (I assume the lady was the manager) would come out of her office (I guess to see who I was) and she would plump up the pillows in the reception area and then go back into her office. The staff were apologetic referring to management "policy changes" to save money even though I actually paid 35% more than previously and for a worse room. I could go on with many other issues like difficult to reach plug, frayed bed linen, cracked sink, dusty shelves, old flooring, but the worst was when we were leaving I checked under the bed for anything we might have dropped and it was disgusting. I can only assume that cost cutting means that the cleaners only have time to clean the bare minimum. After a few days we just stopped complaining as it was a waste of time and was spoiling our holiday. I wrote to Agodo who contacted D'Hotel and the response from the hotel was that they had resolved our issues on the first day! I sent 20 photos to Agodo and they gave us compensation. Thank You Agodo. D'Hotel needs to make some BIG changes. I suggest they need to review their "policy changes" and start investing in the hotel and make some improvements. Not only renovation, but they need to bring back the "luxury experience" that I had the first time I visited.

First impressions are quite dull… they try to make an effort with a little table set up of local biscuits and a coffee machine… the hygiene standards are eye opening as they don’t offer disposable stirrers. I can understand being green… but 1 teaspoon placed in a holder for common use? If it was a holder of clean spoons, each for one time use and then they washed it. That would be good effort to be green, but one to be shared. That’s an ick. We got the balcony room, room is big and spacious but it needs a refresh. The wardrobe sliding door connect to the lights was a joke, I could hear the sensor trying to desperately hard to click. Bath towels are also fraying… and the shower head is on one of those non 360 types. For the ladies who wish to take a quick shower without wetting our head… that would be pretty difficult. Mattress is really soft, so lucky we were just doing a night staycay… can’t imagine if I was a visiting tourist… my back would be so achy from poor sleeping posture. Parking is another joke! They have basement parking but all the lots have a cone on them. When I arrived, a security personal came out from the office situation beside the parking lots and instead of assisting to remove the cone after I asked him if it was ok to park. He gestured me to that I would have to remove the cone on my own. So much for hotel service. This might as well be a dorm. Overall… I’m pretty surprised this is under the Ascott group. As I’ve much enjoy my stays at other Ascott properties.

Disappointing. Stayed here a few years ago and it was great. Now it’s tired and basic. Cleanliness not great, decor very worn, no hand towels or gown, ‘breakfast’ consisted of tiny plastic tub of fruit, a small pastry wrapped in plastic, and instant coffee. Staff friendly and helpful but no advice about local amenities and no info in hotel. Probably a bit over priced for what you get. Wouldn’t stay again.

Room was big and I liked the layout. It was a corner room so it creates a more spacious image. The beds were clean and comfortable . Walking distance to the Tiong Bahru market as well as various cafes and porridge houses. Room had the basic requirements. No bidet in the toilet . Lobby serves free snacks and coffee or tea during the morning. The room price was a bit high for my standard but it was close to where I was headed to . Pleasant stay.

This new hotel was a brilliant find! Excellent spacious room, with practical amenities and a very large and comfortable bed. The staff in reception were always friendly and helpful. The water park is great fun. Everything was clean and well thought out. Thank you for a fantastic 2 night stay.
